Ben Johns

Ben Johns is considered to be the greatest pickleball player of all time. He has held the #1 ranking in all three divisions for the majority of the last few years since 2020. His dominance includes a 108-match winning streak in singles, with 123 PPA titles (gold medals) as of the Red Rock Open 2024 and 21 Triple Crowns – more than any other male in professional pickleball history (The only other male player to capture a Triple Crown is Tyson McGuffin with 1). He also holds the most consecutive doubles titles alongside Anna Leigh Waters, where they won 16 events in a row as partners (March 2023-February 2024). In total, as of the Red Rock Open 2024, Ben has played in 59 PPA tournaments, and has earned at least one medal (gold, silver or bronze) in all 59 tournaments.

In total (as of the Red Rock Open 2024), Johns holds the following:

• 36 singles titles
• 41 doubles titles. (31 with C. Johns, 8 with M. Wright, 1 with J. Devilliers, and 1 with D. Bar)
• 46 mixed doubles titles. (31 with A. Waters, 12 with S. Jardim, 1 with J. Irvine, 2 with E. Wright)

Johns has 100+ more titles than any other male player besides his brother, Collin (top three: B. Johns 123, C. Johns 31, M. Wright 20).

Outside of pickleball, Johns completed his studies at the University of Maryland, where he graduated with a degree in Materials Science & Engineering. His hobbies include traveling, reading, weightlifting, investing, and playing various other sports/games like padel, table tennis, badminton, spikeball, golf, Fortnite, Magic: The Gathering, and chess. He is the co-owner of three pickleball businesses: Pickleball Getaways (all-inclusive vacations with pickleball instruction), Pickleball 360 (instructional video subscription service), and Johns Design & Consulting (signature court design and planning). He also helped develop his signature JOOLA Perseus paddle.

Johns grew up in Laytonsville, Maryland but now resides in Austin, Texas. He is the middle child of seven children. Johns’ brother, Collin, is Ben’s regular doubles partner, and his sister, Hannah Johns, works for the PPA Tour as a sideline reporter and senior content editor.
