Michael Loyd: Professional Pickleball Player on the PPA Tour
Michael Loyd is a professional pickleball player competing on the PPA Tour in men’s singles, men’s doubles, and mixed doubles. He has established himself as a notable competitor in the rapidly growing sport of professional pickleball.
Background & Career
Michael Loyd grew up all over Texas playing basketball and tennis. He went on to play Division 1 tennis at University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley and later found pickleball in 2020 as a way to exercise during the pandemic. It wasn’t until finishing his MBA and his collegiate tennis career that he picked up a paddle again in 2022.
Loyd worked for HEAD pickleball after college and began pursuing pro pickleball in September of 2023. Loyd is also the head coach and content creator for pickleball instructional platform Pickleball Hub, where he posts teaching advice and sells his masterclass.
Loyd is the oldest brother of three, including a younger brother Jason, a younger sister Madelyn and his parents John and Carrie Loyd. Outside of pickleball, Loyd enjoys collectibles, choosing his next tattoo, and volunteering with the youth at his local church.
